Timber-Frame Engineering
Turnbull Kyle has extensive experience in the structural design of timber-frame buildings.
We provide engineering support for bespoke homes, housing developments, extensions and other timber-frame structures.
Our timber-frame services may include:
- structural design of wall panels;
- racking and stability calculations;
- lintels, beams and posts;
- floor and roof support design;
- holding-down and anchorage requirements;
- coordination with roof-truss designers;
- foundation reactions and load information;
- assessment of large openings and glazed areas;

We work closely with architects, timber-frame manufacturers, contractors and housebuilders to develop practical details that can be efficiently manufactured and constructed.
Where standard timber-frame arrangements are unsuitable, we can design supplementary steelwork, engineered timber or other structural solutions.
